Deep Roots emerged from the friendships and support of remarkable songwriters and music lovers in our community. Fueled by a passion for self-expression and a desire to create more opportunities for songwriters, Kevin Dorin and Mack Deibel brought the first Deep Roots Original Songwriting Showcase to life in 2024—an unforgettable musical experience made possible by the very artists and supporters they call friends.
Deep Roots was created to bring our community into the creative spaces of local songwriters, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into the heart of original music.

Why Support Songwriters?
Songwriting is one of the most personal and powerful forms of self-expression. It’s raw, vulnerable, and deeply human—turning emotions, experiences, and thoughts into melodies that resonate. Unlike other forms of writing, songs often reveal feelings even before the songwriter fully understands them. And when a song is born from an authentic place, it creates a profound connection between the artist and the listener. These shared moments of understanding and emotion are what make original music so vital.
A Stage for Stories
Music is the heartbeat of Sandpoint—you can find live performances nearly every night. Yet, many artists stick to playing covers, often because audiences gravitate toward familiar tunes or venues aren’t set up to support original music. Deep Roots changes that. This showcase celebrates the craft of songwriting by placing original songs and the artists who create them front and center and offering the most intimate, artist-focused experience and professionally produced music experience in the region.
What’s Next?
After a successful debut, Deep Roots—Sandpoint’s premier platform for original songwriting— returns with an even greater mission. Deep Roots is expanding. We’re curating a year of Showcase events. Each event will be designed to highlight the immense songwriting talent within our community and beyond, delivering a high-quality original music experience like no other.
The 2025 Deep Roots Showcase is set for Sat, Sept 13! And there’s more to come, stay tuned!
