OUR STORY &

History

The Building

A prominent building on Sandpoint’s Historic First Avenue, this building complex has held many businesses over the nearly 120 years of existence, including a notorious gambling hall. It is known primarily as the home of the Pastime Sports Shop and Pastime Café, a favorite meeting place for locals, being well-known for its horseshoe counter and strong black (camp) coffee.

So it Begins - Hive 1.0

Jeff Grady set out with a mission to bring great music to downtown Sandpoint not just after the Festival, but year round. In 2013, Grady and a host of locals produced a slew of shows featuring up and coming acts and major headlining artists.

Hive 2.0

After a successful first year, Grady purchased the building in 2014 and began renovating it immediately.

The job was to update the building while maintaining its historic nature, featuring lots of brick and a historic mural as well as installing top notch touring technology and production equipment unrivaled in the Pacific Northwest. In August 2014, The Hive reopened as Sandpoint's premier music venue and the permanent home of Aftival.

Today

As of 2022, The Hive is officially under new ownership and management but nothing has changed, The Hive is Sandpoint's premier music and event venue. Our facility features multiple full-service bars, state-of-the-art sound, and lighting systems, and mezzanine VIP booths.

They’d love to host your events, whether that’s a birthday party for 10, renting the entire mezzanine for a private party up to 150 or the entire venue for a corporate retreat, seminar or holiday party holding more than 500 people. And they hope you’ll join them for Line Dancing lessons, a historic talk with Bonner County History Museum, for a football game in the fall or a killer concert.
